/ Dame Rosie Winterton Outlines Her Position During Debate on Triggering Artice 50
Dame Rosie Winterton, outlined her position on Brexit during the debate on the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill when she said that she will be supporting the bill before Parliament to
trigger Article 50 and outlined four key points.
Dame Rosie said:-
. that whilst she had campaigned toremain in the EU she would, in the light of the referendum result, especially the strong vote for Leave in Doncaster Central, support the bill to trigger Article 50.
· that Yorkshire and other regions should be included in the discussions about leaving the EU in the same way as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
. that there should be an end to the undercutting of wages and exploitation of migrant workers which would mean an end to zero hours contracts and improved employment rights legislation.
. that the deep concern expressed about the recent actions of President Trump shows how important it was that the UK continued to have a voice on the world stage through bodies such as the Council of Europe and did not withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights.
